Shree Nataraja College celebrated Rashtra kavi Kuvempu’s birth anniversary, ‘Vishwamanava day’ in the city on Thursday. The programme was inaugurated by paying floral tributes to the portrait of the late poet.
The chief guest of the programme, Dr Sathish Chandra, assistant professor, Government First Grade College, Saligrama, spoke on the occasion and said that Kuvempu was a terrific writer, poet, drama writer. He loved the entire human race regardless of caste and creed. It is an honour to speak about the great soul, he said.
“Every child that is born is a great soul. But as the child grows into a man, he becomes a low worthy soul. Only few sustain to remain a great soul till the end of their life. Kuvempu was one such human who never allowed any misdeeds to hamper his soul,” he said.
Meanwhile, he asked the students to develop concentration in order to gain knowledge. “Be the fields where crops are grown, don’t be the sacks to which the crops will be filled,” he said on the occasion.
