Kuvempu was inspired by the writings of Swami Vivekananda: Tarini Chidananda

Mysuru, January 16:- Writer and daughter of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, Tarini Chidananda attended a programme organised by the Department of Kannada of SBRR Mahajana First Grade College to mark 50 years of Jnanapeetha award for Sri Ramayana Darshanam by Kuvempu recently.

“Kuvempu was a good reader since his school days. When he found a book of Swami Vivekananda, he started reading it. He wrote Sri Ramayana Darshanam during the 2nd World War. Vinoba Bhave had met Kuvempu then,” she said.

“Kuvempu did not see the world as separate aspects but as a whole. Sri Ramayana Darshanam is an awakened sense. It should reach youths more,” said writer H R Sujatha.

Theatre director Ganesh Udupi staged the meeting of Rama and Shabari as explained with reading and performing.

Principal of the college Dr S Venkataramu, educational advisor S R Ramesh, H R Thimmegowda and others were present. (MR/SH)
