Lakhbir Singh’s family says he was ‘lured’ to Singhu border; demands justice

Prime News, National (Chandigarh), October 16:- The family members and relatives of Lakhbir Singh, who was killed at the Singhu border yesterday, alleged that he was lured to the protest site by some people and urged the government to probe the issue.

While speaking to media, Singh’s father-in-law at his home in Taran Tarn said, “He was lured into going there. It should be probed and he must get justice.”

His sister Raj Kaur revealed that Lakhbir took Rs 50 and said he was going for work in Chabal and will return after seven days.

“I thought he went to work there. He was not such a person (to commit desecration of Guru Granth Sahib). The perpetrators must be punished,” she added.

Lakhbir is survived by his wife, three daughters with the youngest being 8 years old and the eldest being 12-year-old. His wife left him 5-6 years ago and lives separately, confirmed ASI Kabal Singh.

Yesterday morning, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Hansraj said that at about 5 am on Friday, the Kundli police station received information about a body of a man hanged near a stage where the farmers have been protesting at the Singhu border. (MR, Inputs: Agencies).
