‘Laksha Kanta’ singing performance held at UoM Oval Grounds

Mysuru, October 29:- The district administration, Kannada and Culture Department, University of Mysuru (UoM), Rangayana, Department of Collegiate and Pre-University Education Board jointly held a Laksha Kanta (million voices) singing performance as part of Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations at the UoM Oval Grounds here on Thursday (October 28).

Mysuru-Kodagu Member of Parliament Pratap Simha, Chamaraja Constituency MLA L Nagendra, Chairman of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) H V Rajeev, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham, Kannada and Culture Department Director H Chennappa, UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof G Hemanth Kumar, UoM Registrar Prof R Shivappa and several many others took part in the programme.

Students and faculties from different schools and colleges, and officials voluntarily sang along with artiste Sumanth Vashisht to show love for the Kannada language.  The programme began with ‘Baarisu Kannada Dimdimava’ song composed by Kuvempu, followed by ‘Jogada Siri Belakinalli’ by Nisar Ahmed, ‘Huttidare Kannada Nadalli Huttabeku’ by Hamsalekha and other Kannada songs.

As part of the singing event, a special campaign “Kannadakaagi naavu” (We are for Kannada), a singing performance was held at South Zone Block Education Office, Mysuru.

Block Education Officer R Ramaradhya, Akshara Dasoha Assistant Director Srikantesh, Physical Education Supervisor M R Pasha, and several others were present. (AM/SH)
