Land Reforms Act: Farmers’ unions to gherao district in-charge ministers

Farmers to lay siege to CM BS Yediyurappa's residence in Bengaluru, says Kuruburu Shanthakumar

Mysuru, June 22:-Confederation of Farmers’ Associations has warned to gherao district in-charge ministers, in protest against Land Reforms Act amendment from Tuesday (June 23).

“The state government is trying to introduce anti-farmer policies in the state such as the Land Reforms Act amendment, APMC Act amendment, privatising electricity DISComs and other decisions. Farmer associations have decided to protest against it with a one-point agenda. A committee has been formed to protest against this,” said farmer leader Kuruburu Shanthakumar.

“Ministers will be gheraoed from tomorrow onwards. Protest and submission of a memorandum will be held in front of the residence of all the MLAs from June 24 onwards. We will lay a siege to the residence of Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa,” he added.

“State government is trying to mislead the farmers’ movement. If the government is ready to say anyone can purchase agricultural land, then let it announce anyone can do the work of a doctor or an engineer. Farmers have to consider this as a wake-up call and stage a protest,” he added.

Honnur Prakash, Dr Guruprasad, Vidyasagar, Hattalli Devaraj, Hallikerehundi Bhagyaraj, Manjesh Gowda, Sudhir Kumar and Chandrashekhar were present. (MR/KS)
