Ignorance of law is no excuse in India. Hence, legal awareness has become inevitable for every citizen, opined Justice C B Mohammed Muzerualla, here on Wednesday.
He was speaking at the inauguration of academic activities of Sarada Vilas Law College at its premises as part of the awareness programme to students on Motor Vehicle Act organised in association with District Legal Service Authority.
He said that awareness on legal aspects pertaining to issues faced by the people on a day-to-day basis will help them to effectively tackle the issue. As a citizen of India, we all abide by the law of the land which is included in our Constitution. Law graduates who study law should take a proactive role and help the ignorant and poor to get justice. The law students should have social responsibility and create legal awareness among the citizens.
Further he said that lawyer’s profession is considered to be one of the highest paid profession in the country. “They make money with zero investment using their intellect. On the other hand people have a notion that rich get justice while the poor are denied justice. Law students should take the lead and be torch-bearers in the judicial system,” he added.
Senior advocate B L Marappa, Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions chairman B S Parthasarathi, secretary H K Srinath and Sarada Vilas Law College principal Vinitha were present.
