Lending meaning to National Sports Day

Mysuru, August 26:- Palace Sports Club of the city organised Chamundi Street Race to mark National Sports Day on Sunday.

S Keerthana and N Bharath secured top spots in the 4-km long race. Keerthana of Nirvana Swamy High School triumphed in the race held for high school girls. Namratha of K Puttaswamy School of Kumbarakoppal secured second prize and V Aishwarya of Nirvana Swamy High School won the third prize.

Bharath of St Joseph’s High School won first prize among boys, C Akash of Kuvempunagar won the second prize while Vineeth A Kashyap of DAV School emerged third.

In the two-km race held for primary school students, R Manu of Kumbarakoppal School emerged first, K Rona of Pushkarini School came second and Preetham of Vidyadarshini Central School won secured the third prize.

Among girls, N Tejaswini and S Lasya of Paramahamsa Vidyaniketana School won the first and second prizes and Manchamma of Kyatamaranahalli won third prize.

MLA GT Devegowda flagged off the race. Hundreds of students from various schools participated in the race. Athlete MR Dhanusha was feted on the occasion.

Zilla Panchayat member Beerihundi Basavanna, Bigg Boss season 6 winner Shashi Kumar and others were present. (MR/SH)
