The sighting of three leopard cubs near human habitat in Varakodu village of Mysuru district has created panic among the residents there.
The cubs were traced by farmers and agricultural workers engaged in harvesting. The Forest Department was immediately alerted. The cubs were found about a kilometre away from the place where a female leopard was trapped by the foresters last Saturday.
Following the incident, Forest Department officials took the cubs into custody and fed the leopard cubs with cow milk. As per the protocol, Forest Department will keep a watch on the cubs for a few days and ensure there is no disturbance in the vicinity.
If the mother does not return even after two days, the cubs will be shifted to the Mysore Zoo.
