Leopard trapped in snare; rescued by forest dept officials

Mysuru, July 31:- The officials of forest department have rescued a leopard trapped in a snare kept for wild boars at N Begur in H D Kote taluk on Tuesday.

Wild boars were destroying crops of farmers at N Begur and the farmers were unable to control them. To stop further destruction of the crops, the farmers set up snares at their farms. A 7-year-old male leopard from the forest got trapped in the snare and suffered injuries on his stomach.

The villagers informed the incident to the forest department officials who immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the leopard, and took it to hospital for treatment.

The forest department officials have requested the farmers to take alternative measures to protect crops instead of setting up snares. (KS, NGB)
