Along with the knowledge from books, teachers and parents should teach culture and sacraments to children, said Chandravan mutt seer Shivayogiswami.
He was speaking at the SDVS Education Institution’s ‘founder’s day’, held at the school premises recently. He said that in Indian society, cultural education is given more importance. “Education should teach children about human values, especially selflessness. In this fast growing world, human bindings are decreasing. Children should be taught about relationships from their early age,” he said.
Former MLA Parimala Nagappa spoke on the occasion and said that educational institutes that are providing quality education to rural students should be appreciated. Remembering the founders of the institute is a commendable job, she said.
Meanwhile, students, who won prizes in the debate competitions, were felicitated. The exhibition by students was the main attraction of the programme.
P V Sneha, Dr Prem Kumar, BEO Mallikarjun, P Veerabadrappa, Mallikarjunaswami, Gangadaraswami and others were present on the occasion.
