Mysuru, June 13:- “International Yoga Day is being held successfully in the heritage city of Mysuru for the last 4 years. Officials have to make all the required preparations for the event to be successful,” said the Commissioner of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), Shilpa Nag at a preliminary meeting held at the council meeting hall of MCC here on Wednesday.
She said that yoga has no age limit and asked the officials of the Education Department to include students and parents for the event. She said that the MCC aims at making one lakh people participate in the event and asked officials to request various organisations to actively participate in the event.
“Mega rehearsal will be held on June 16 at the Mysore Race Course. Yoga exponents should be brought in large numbers to make it successful. Preparations are in place for the stage programme on June 21 as well. The Police Department is taking care of security arrangements and we need to be prepared for traffic snarls on that day,” she added.
Deputy director of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) Department Dr Seethalakshmi, deputy director of Tourism Department H Janardhan, additional commissioner of MCC Shivananda Murthy, deputy director of Education Department Panduranga, NSS officer Chandrashekhar, Sri Hari and others were present.
