Lions Clubs hold regional meet, conduct social service activities

A regional meet of International Association of Lions Clubs District 317 Region-9 was held recently at Jaganmohan Palace. All the 11 Clubs under Region-9 jointly conducted various service activities worth of more than Rs 8 lakhs in the presence of District Governor Lion C Hemanth Kumar and Region Chariperson Lion Dr B Nirmala.

Cheif Guest Dr Vijayalakshmi Balekundri, Retd. Paediatric Cardiologist of Jayadeva Hospital, Bangaluru, gave a presentation on the theme of the region meet – ‘Human Life and Health’.          

As a part of cultural activities, mimicry performance by Rangayana artist Geetha Manthadka, Folk songs by Amma Ramachandra and talking dolI program by Kavya M were organised.

Advisor of the Host Committee PDG Lion M N Jai Prakash, Chairman Lion Babu Narendra Prasad, Vice Chairman Lion A P Bharathesh, Zone C’airmans’ Lion T S Shashi Kumar, Lion M Sridhar Hegde, Lion Rani Mahesh were present on the occasion.

BOX: Donations galore

As a part of their service initiative, a constructed kitchen worth Rs 3 lakh with matching grants was handed over to GHP School, Paduvarahalli. Artificial limb worth Rs 1.20 lakh was donated to a beneficiary. Scholarships worth Rs 1 lakh were distributed by DLSF to physically challenged students of JSS Polytechnic. They also distributed 5 sewing machines to needy people; 100 sets of notebooks to students; Rs 20,000 to an old age home run by Lions Club of Bengaluru – Jayanagar; financial aid to college-going students for higher education and a double metal cot to an orphanage and much more.
