Lockdown: Stranded workers being sent to Uttar Pradesh

Mysuru, May 16:- Over 1,000 stranded workers from Mysuru and surrounding areas were being sent by trains from Ashokapuram Railway Station to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday (May16). The nation is under an extended lockdown till May 17 to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The anxious workers thronged the railway station on Saturday morning to reach their respective native places. About 2,000 stranded workers have registered to leave Mysuru so far.

Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar and Superintendent of Police C B Ryshyanth were present at the Ashokapuram Railway Ground. (HN, NGB)
