Lok Sabha polls: Progressive thinkers-Dalits back Nikhil Kumaraswamy

Mysuru, March 23:- “Though there has been a political polarisation in India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have made a secret pact ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha polls,” alleged progressive thinker Prof B P Mahesh Chandra Guru.

He was addressing a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club organised by Dalits’ Welfare Trust on Saturday.

“The real enemy of Dalits is BSP. Voters have to defeat the BSP and BJP and support the secular coalition of Janata Dal (Secular)-Congress. Communal forces who oppose the Constitution, equality, secularism, democracy are unfit to live in India. Though there have been many great people, governments have come in India, it is the Constitution that has united India in the past 70 years. If the Constitution is altered, women, Dalits and backward communities will lose their right to live. Those who say that they will alter the Constitution should never be voted to power,” he added.

“Politicians in National Democratic Alliance (NDA) do not have the values of statesmen. Women have become helpless now. Those who question the violation of rights are being called urban naxals. It has made many lose the basic rights of living. If BJP comes to power again, we may witness a dictator like Hitler,” he added.

“Pratap Simha is a liar. Everyone needs relief from him. He has not done any credible work in Mysuru. Sumalatha Ambareesh who is contesting from Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency is inexperienced. People from the film industry should not be supported. Nikhil Kumaraswamy who is a candidate of secular coalition should be supported,” he added.

Shantharaj, Prof Shabbir Mustafa, S Mahesh, Prof T M Mahesh, Mahadevamurthy and Chikkandani were present. (KMR, NGB)
