Lok Sabha polls: Workshop held for media persons

Mysuru, March 18:- As part of the Lok Sabha elections, a workshop was held for media persons at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office hall here on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar led the workshop. Demonstration of the functioning of EVMs and VVPATs were held. Media persons were informed about paid news and advertisements.

The DC said that the candidates have to take permission prior to publishing any advertisement and said there is no permission to use the logo or photos of the party and candidate in non-political events. He said that no discussion of the party, caste should be held in a live programme.

He said that the voting set up consists control unit, ballet unit, VVPAT. Ballot unit consists of the name, roll number, party symbol and photo of the candidate. Voters can know who received the vote within seven seconds of voting. (MR/KS)
