Mysuru, September 6:- Founder of Belaku and social worker K M Nishanth staged a lonely protest in front of Mysuru Palace here on Wednesday, urging the government to form Dasara Committee and officially announce Dasara as Nada Habba.
Speaking to media persons, he said: “In 1974, after the death of Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, the government has been considering Dasara as Nada Habba, took the responsibility of the celebrations. But Dasara has not been officially declared as Nada Habba even after 40 years. Instead of last-minute preparations, Dasara Committee must be formed to ensure activities and preparations are in line throughout the year. But at present, sub-committees are formed one month before Dasara and tenders are called. Even after a year of Dasara celebrations, dues have not paid to the artistes. Dasara preparations must be on the lines of Wimbledon sport. The preparations for next year must be started soon after this year’s festivity gets over. We want a 365-day working committee. (MR/SH).
