Mysuru, May 21:- Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar on Tuesday inspected Maharani’s College of Commerce and Management for Women on Valmiki Road at Paduvarahalli in the city where the counting of votes for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be held on Thursday. Sankar was at the venue to take stock of the situation and looked satisfied with the preparations.
The district administration has taken all the precautionary measures to ensure there are no untoward incidents when the counting of votes begins. A posse of policemen is already guarding the venue and curfew is likely to be imposed tomorrow. Vehicular traffic near the college will be restricted while supporters of candidates will also be asked not to gather in large numbers
As the countdown for the announcement of the Lok Sabha results has already begun, speakers have been set up at various strategic points on Mysuru-Hunsur Road to Paduvaralli signal junction for the announcement to be made periodically. The counting of votes will begin at 8 am on Thursday.
Incumbent MP Pratap Simha from the BJP and C H Vijayashankar, the coalition candidate from the Congress are the prominent candidates in the fray. (MR/KS)
