MLA Sa Ra Mahesh’s war of words with Minister Somanna continues

Mysuru, September 7:- Janata Dal (Secular) MLA Sa Ra Mahesh hit back at District in-charge Minister V Somanna who had commented on Friday that the JD(S) leader was highly knowledgeable and it is understandable if he doesn’t want to be part of the Dasara preparations. Somanna’s statement followed after Mahesh said he is against sharing the dais with those who are responsible for the downfall of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the state.

“I will not take part in Dasara. They have formed the government though they don’t have a majority. If we are not qualified, how can we join them and take part in Dasara? I don’t have such a large heart like GT Devegowda,” he said.

Responding to the statement of Devegowda, the MLA said that there is nothing wrong in the statement of Chamundeshwari MLA as he was under pressure as a minister. Devegowda had said Mahesh was acting like a chief minister. “Devegowda is still my leader and he won’t quit JD(S).”

“High command instructed me to strengthen the party in Mysuru region. Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy will hold a meeting in the district for two days. As a prelude to it, I have discussed with our corporators,” he said.

“For Hunsur by-elections, the party has decided to give a ticket to GT Devegowda’s son. He had asked for a ticket during the Assembly elections last year. Now, the party high command had decided to field him,” he said.

“We brought a senior leader to JD(S) and made him contest the election. He finally quit the party and everyone knows what has happened later. There are honest party workers in JD(S). They will answer in the coming days,” he said while taking a dig at disqualified MLA AH Vishwanath. (MR/KS)
