Theatre must be part of the academics, said senior theatre personality Rameshwai Varma.
She was speaking at the inauguration of district level theatre and folk dance festival organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture in association with Rangayana and Kuvempu Kannada Study Centre at B M Sri Auditorium in the city on Friday. She said, “Theatre must be introduced from the primary level of education and must be part of the academics. Students who engage themselves in theatre art will also be good at literary and cultural fields. Theatre art also helps in developing a good social life.”
Later, Deputy Director of Rangayana Nirmala Matapathi said, “Students must utilise such platforms to exhibit their talent and create a path to shine in their respective field of interest. The Department of Kannada and Culture has plans to organise ‘Nataka Utsav’ for the benefit of college students.”
Director of Kannada Study Centre Preethi Srimandhara Kumar, Convenor Dr M Nanjaiah Honganur, theatre director Talakadu Gururaju and others were present.
