Makkaji Chowk complex project hits headlines again

The controversial Makkaji Chowk commercial complex project is back in news.

Mysuru Rakshana Vedike, fighting against the construction of a commercial complex, has decided to appeal to Police Commissioner B Dayananda to remove the fence and make arrangement for smooth flow of traffic in the area.

“The schedule of a portion of Vinoba Road for the construction of the commercial complex was termed illegal by the court. But the builders Maverick Holdings and Investments have resumed the work leaving pedestrians in the lurch. This is a clear violation of court order. The scam started during the tenure of A B Ibrahim, the then commissioner to the civic body when he made an agreement with the company.

But a petition was filed in the court. On April 15,  2009, the court order stated that the schedule of road to the proposed complex as illegal and violation of law. Now, the company has covered the area with fencing and the works are going on. If we ask for clarification, they turn a blind eye.”

At a meeting convened in this regard, MRV, jointly with Mysuru Grahakara Hakkugala Vedike, decided to appeal to Dayananda for intervention and clear the illegal construction.

MRV President M K Prem Kumar, Secretary Rakesh Bhat, MGHV member M A Mohan Kumar were present.
