Man selling deer meat escapes as forest officials raid barn

Mysuru, October 22:- The officials of Forest Department carried out a raid on a barn where deer meat was being sold in Hunsur region of Nagarahole forest on Monday. The accused escaped from the spot during the raid.

The deer meat was found in the tobacco barn of one Abhilash Kumar of Bootanahalli in Periyapattana taluk.

Based on confirmed information, the Hunsur RFO Hanumantharaju led the operation. The accused Abhilash Kumar had escaped by the time the officials could raid the barn.

Forest officials seized 4 kg deer meat, weighing scale and plastic bags. A complaint has been registered. DRFO Ramu, Prasanna, Rathnakara and staffs were present. (KS, NGB)
