Man sentenced to 12 years in jail for raping mentally challenged girl

Mysuru, April 25:- The 7th Additional District Court sentenced a person who had kidnapped and raped a mentally challenged woman, with 12 years of imprisonment.

A daily wage labourer of Anaganahalli in Jayapura hobli, Dodda Anka, 29, has been sentenced to 12 years of jail and a fine of Rs 20,000.

He had been to his sister’s house at Nadanahalli in 2016. He had taken a mentally challenged 19-year-old girl to Thandavapura along with him and raped her near Kabini Canal. She was left stranded at the spot and was unable to find the way back home. Someone who identified her informed it to her parents.

She gave the information as to what exactly had happened after recovering. Her parents filed a complaint to Nazarbad Police Station. After the hearing of the case, Judge C Chandrashekhar sentenced Dodda Anka with 12 years of imprisonment. (KS, NGB)
