A man who had killed his wife when she refused to give him money to buy alcohol was sentenced to life imprisonment and Rs 5,000 fine by the First Additional Sessions Court in Mysuru.
The accused, Amith Babu (38), killed his wife Priya by hacking her 19 times in open public view in Devaraja Police Station limits on August 8, 2013.
Amith Babu and Priya had shifted to Bengaluru after their love marriage, but due to his addiction to alcohol, Amith lost his job and Priya returned to Mysuru along with the kids. Amith would often visit his wife and create ruckus whenever she refused to give money. On August 7, 2013 Amith is said to have asked for money from his wife, which she allegedly refused. The next day Amith hacked his wife in front of the people.
Public prosecutor Ajith Kumar D Hamigi represented the government in the court.
