Prime News, State, (Mangaluru), August 13:-Mangaluru police commissioner Vikash Kumar on Thursday (August 13) has warned against offensive posts in social media channels which aim to disrupt religious harmony.
In a press release on Thursday, he further maintained that the violators of such crime will be booked by the cybercrime police department.
He also stated that suitable legal action will be taken against people who insult, criticize or hurt religious sentiments and post or spread such posts in social media.
Recently, Bengaluru had witnessed a violent set of events, triggered due to a derogatory Facebook post on Prophet Muhammad by a nephew of Pulikeshi Nagar Congress MLA, R Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy.
In the wake of these riots that took place in the state capital, the commissioner advised the people to be very cautious before posting anything on social media.
