A complaint has been lodged against Nazarbad police Inspector M L Shekhar for not taking action against K Marigowda, the trusted aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Marigowda has been accused of intimidating Mysuru Deputy Commissioner C Shikha last week.
Marigowda who is the former president of the Mysuru Zilla Panchayat, along with his two supporters allegedly intimidated the DC at the Government Guest House where Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had arrived to take part in the Iftaar party last Sunday.
An FIR has been registered at the Nazarbad Police Station based on the complaint by DC Shikha against Marigowda under IPC Sections 143, 147, 504 and 353. Marigowda has been absconding since then.
The Lok Ayukta complaint has been lodged by M C Chikkanna, former Corporator, Mysuru City Corporation and he has alleged that Inspector Shekhar has not taken action against Marigowda and his supporters Manjunath, Basavaraju, Anand and Siddaraju despite the Deputy Commissioner clearly mentioning all the names in her complaint.
Not taking action against them would harm the interests of government officers and public, the complaint said.
Meanwhile, Marigowda’s sports utility vehicle has been was found in Mandya on Saturday. Police said that the Toyota Fortuner (KA-09 MB 5508), registered at the Mysuru RTO West on March 27, 2015, was found parked in Mahatma Gandhi Layout on Thandasanahalli Main Road in Mandya.
The rear portion of the SUV that is in the name of Marigowda was covered with a polythene sheet and the front number plate was also covered. A police team from Nazarbad police station has seized the vehicle.
Bail hearing tomorrow
The anticipatory bail application filed by Marigowda will come up for hearing at the Additional District and Sessions Court in Mysuru on Monday. The court ad on Friday adjourned the bail hearing till Monday. The court heard Marigowda’s lawyer Nagaraj and asked the public prosecutor Mahanthappa to file objections to the petition by Monday.
