MCC raids on shops yields huge quantities of plastic

Mysuru, May 18:- The officials of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), it seems, have decided to make the city plastic-free. They raided shops in APMC yard on Nanjanagud road on Thursday morning and seized plastic carry bags, spoons, plates, cups and other products worth lakhs of rupees. There were many shops which were not when the officials visited the yard. They called up the shop owners and asked them to open the shops. DC D Randeep visited the spot.

The officials carried out raids on several shops and collected plastic bags weighing around 200 kg and have fined the shop owners, varying from Rs 500 to Rs 2,500. (MR/KS).
