Mysuru, July 30:- Members of Parisara Samrakshana Samithi staged a protest in the city on Monday alleging that the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has violated the Supreme Court order by constructing 13 shops on a Service Road, next to the Rajakaluve at Saraswathipuram.
The agitators under the banner ‘Parisara Samrakshana Samithi’ alleged that few corrupt MCC officials have joined hands and forged the documents to encroach the ‘conservancy’ land adjacent to Rajakaluve.
“We along with other progressive thinkers and intellectuals from the city had written a letter to the Mysuru district administration and higher officials about the illegal structure coming up on a service road/conservancy. The issue was not taken up seriously and we have not received any response from either MCC Commissioner or the Deputy Commissioner,” they alleged.
“As per the records of the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) the place where 13 shops are coming up in the name of ‘Food Zone’ is mapped as a conservancy road. Earlier, the same place was used as ‘parking area’ by State Bank of India (SBI) staffs. Now the MCC has come with a plan to construct 13 stalls along with kitchens in each stall as per the ‘blue print’ of MCC engineers. Certainly some ‘influential’ persons are involved in this illegal land grab and we urge the authorities and people’s representative to address the issue seriously and take stringent action against the erring officials involved in the scam,” the protesters alleged.
