Mysuru, August 11:- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths arrested a First Division Assistant of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) while accepting a bribe from a physically challenged sportsperson.
The accused, Tej Kumar was arrested based on a complaint filed by Prabhuswamy, president, Vikala Chethana Abhyudaya Samsthe, Mysuru, who represented India in World Master Game held at Auckland, New Zealand.
The complainant had won gold medals in Javelin and Shot-put throws and the Government had sanctioned a cash award in appreciation of his achievements.
Prabhuswamy had applied through MCC to receive the cash award.
Another specially-abled sportsperson Sinchana had also applied for the cash award sanctioned by the government. Shockingly, Tej Kumar had demanded Rs 2,000 from the duo as bribe to issue the cash awards.
Based on their complaints, the officials of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Mysuru, caught Tej Kumar red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 4,500 from the complainant. ACB sleuths seized the bribe amount. -KK
