Mysuru, June 12:- The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is facing a serious allegation. Mysuru-Kodagu Member of Parliament Pratap Simha on Wednesday accused the MCC of misusing the central funds. He said there is a mafia behind the distribution of funds and the transactions are murky.
He was speaking to media after inspecting the water tank constructed at Vijayanagar in the city.
“MCC gets money from the 14th Finance Commission of the central government. We provide the required funds. This time also, we have provided Rs 68 crore as funds. MCC is conducting council meetings for namesake. Senior corporators take a higher share for their wards. Funds are not being distributed equally. They have their own team of people. I have already brought it to the notice of the Commissioner of MCC, Shilpa Nag. I am writing a letter about this to the Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar. Drinking water has to be given top priority. Money has to be utilised for this purpose. The so-called mafia is calling the shots and the money is distributed according to whims and fancies of some greedy corporators.”
Continuing his charge, Simha said, “We should put an end to this murky dealing. What has been approved and sent to the council should be cancelled. It is the money given by the central government which is meant for a good cause. Only Rs 8 crore has been allotted to drinking water scheme. Utilise the funds from 14th Finance Commission for drinking water and the remaining for the development of the wards.”
Chamaraja Constituency MLA L Nagendra and others were present. (MR/KS)
