MCC polls: Scores of candidates file nomination papers on last day

Mysuru, August 20:- Today being the last day for filing of nomination papers to Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) elections scheduled to be held on August 31, the candidates of various political parties rushed to file their nominations.

On Monday, candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) thronged the election offices of their respective MCC Wards to file their nomination papers.

The Congress on Sunday night released the list of candidates and issued B form to contest from 65 Wards in MCC elections. Following this, Congress candidates in the city who were waiting for the announcement of their names thronged the election offices to file their nomination papers.

MCC zonal office at CADA premises, Congress candidate for Sunnadakeri Ward Lokesh Piya, JD(S) candidate Vasantha P, BJP candidate Roopa G Babu for Kurubarahalli ward, BJP candidate B V Manjunath, Congress candidate Srinath Babu and Congress candidate Kalpana Somashekar filed their nomination papers with the election officer P H Mahesh. A large number of their followers were present.

Meanwhile, Jagadeesh J S who was eyeing for a ticket from Congress party was not issued the B form which forced him to contest on a BJP ticket fromWard 43. He filed his nomination papers at the zonal office at Sharadevinagar.

Sridhar K V who was expecting a ticket from Congress has also filed as an independent candidate from Mahadeshwara Layout ward after he was declined ticket from the party.

JD(S) candidate K V Mallesh who contested in state Assembly elections from JD(S), filed his nomination papers from Kuvempunagar (CITB) Ward. –(HN, KK)
