MCC to introduce advanced tax payment system soon

With a view to provide people of Mysuru with many options to pay their taxes, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is all set to introduce advanced tax payment system.

The proposal by the MCC will reduce the burden on the people and embezzlement that rises during collection of various taxes. The advanced tax payment system will benefit the public to pay their respective taxes just by swiping their debit or credit cards or even deposit the money in the deposit machine that will be placed at all the zones covering the city.

Speaking to City Today, MCC Commissioner G Jagadish said: “With an intention to help citizens in city, we have put up a proposal to introduce the advanced tax payment system in MCC. This move will help every individual to pay his/her tax that includes property tax, water tax and all other taxes by swiping their debit or credit cards. In addition, we will also set up kiosk for the benefit of the customers to deposit their money directly and get a receipt for their payment.”

“We are discussing with State Bank of Mysore and IDBI about this advanced facility   and in the next 15-20 days, we will be introducing this people-friendly advanced tax payment system in all the nine zones of the city,” he added.

Online Tax Payment System:

MCC in addition to the advanced tax payment system is also likely to introduce the online tax payment system where a citizen can pay his dues and tax through online transaction.

Jagadish said: “The proposal is with the secretary of the state government to permit the corporation to introduce the online tax payment system. However, the officials said that the state government is also likely to introduce the same system in all corporations across the state in the next few days.”

“MCC is also planning to tie up with all the banks in Mysuru where a customer can directly deposit his/her tax in the concerned banks and receive a receipt for the same. This process however may take time to become a reality,” he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plan of Digital India and the intention to support the cashless scheme is all set to get fulfilled by the MCC if the said proposals come into effect.

At a recent council meeting, the issue of entering the lower value in the carbon copy by the MCC staff to mislead the customers and make profit out of it was brought to the notice of higher-ups by a few council members. Thus the advanced tax payment system will avoid all such problems and facilitate citizens to save their time and also payment process hassle-free.
