MCC to launch ‘Property tax collection campaign’ from July 16

MCC to initiate stringent action against tax evaders

Mysuru, July 12:- With intent to achieve its target in collecting property tax, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) will launch ‘Property tax collection campaign’ from July 16.

According to MCC officials, the corporation will launch the campaign in all the nine zones and will take stringent action against tax evaders. The authorities have decided to confiscate the property to recover the tax. 100 top tax evaders in each zone will be approached first and will be asked to pay the tax.

“We have issued several notices to the owners to pay the requisite tax, many are reluctant to pay the tax and have turned defaulters, so we have planned to launch a campaign and take strict action, an MCC official said.

The MCC is expected to collect revenue of Rs 213 crore, including property tax and land document transfer fee, among others.
