In a noble initiative, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is all set to serve free breakfast to the civic workers (Pourakarmikas) working for the city corporation.
The new proposal, which is expected to begin from February, will act as a motivator to the civic workers who have played a pivotal role in bringing the cleanest city tag to Mysuru city twice.
Speaking to City Today, MCC Commissioner G Jagadeesh said, “The state government, after going through the problems faced by the pourakarmikas, has decided to introduce this new initiative. The MCC has called for a tender to cater the service of providing free breakfast to the 2,600 Pourakarmikas working for MCC. The tender process is going on. This initiative will come in to reality by February soon after the tender process finishes.”
“The free breakfast will be served to the pourakarmikas at 09:00 am in their respective wards when they mark their attendance. The concerned supervisor of the nine zones of the MCC will look into the smooth functioning of the initiative,” he added.
This scheme will not just act as a motivator to the work they contribute to the cleanliness of the society but also helps fill their empty stomach. Most of the civic workers attached to the MCC leave their home in the wee hours every day and usually skip their breakfast and work at empty stomach. Many of those workers also have difficulty to prepare food in the early morning due to their work. Iff everything goes as planned, the pourkarmikas will be thankful to the government and the MCC for their gesture and support towards them in staying fit and healthy.
