Mega Alumni Meet held at Christ the King Convent School

Mysuru, December 9:- A mega Alumni Meet was organised at the Christ the King Convent School (CKC) at Lakshmipuram in Mysuru on Sunday, where a gathering of more than 500 alumni from 1945 batch to the latest 2016 batch participated and expressed their gratitude to their alma mater.
There was sheer magic and excitement as the alumni entered the school some of them, after many decades. Some travelled from far of places in India and abroad just to meet their friends and teachers. They were welcomed by uniform-clad students. Their joy knew no bounds when they met their teachers and friends.
The function started with the group photos of all the batches followed by an official inauguration of the event.
Sister Victorine, former Superior General of Carmelite Sisters of St Theresa (CSST), who was the chief guest, recalled the services of the dedicated teachers and wished the alumni gathered there. Sister Aparna, Manager and Head Mistress, CKC Public School, lauded the efforts of the alumni association and invited the gathering to the 75th platinum jubilee celebrations of the school.
Sister Fridoline, Councillor for Education, Karnataka Province, CSST, who presided over the function recalled the journey of CKC School in Mysuru City from a rented building on the Viceroy Road to its present building whose foundation stone was laid by Sri K C Reddy, then Chief Minister of Mysore State.
She thanked the people of Mysuru for their continued patronage and encouragement for the school, which helped them to make a mark in the field of education.
Distinguished alumni Justice Devdas, High Court Judge, Government of Karnataka, was nostalgic when he spoke about his days in CKC School. Likewise, H R Leelavathi, distinguished musician from the batch of 1949 also spoke and took the gathering down the memory lane when she shared her experiences as a little girl at CKC School.
There was sheer excitement on stage when generations of alumni like a grandmother, mother, daughter comprising three generations were called and recognised. Also, the siblings and couples who studied in CKC School were called and honoured.
Some of the retired teachers who were honoured on the occasion were Hindi Leela, Neelamma, Lydia Sowdhamini, Rama Devi, Sajida Khatoon, Tharamani, Parameshwari K,  Chitra Singh, Beena Samuel, Manjula, Mary Alphonso, Leena Risa, Revathi, Louisa Dias, Sarojini Assuntha, Sister Vincella and Sister Olive.
Sister Prudentia, former Head Mistress of CKC School was guest of honour on the occasion.
Senior journalist Niranjan Nikam, Vice Alumnient of the CKC School  Alumni Association thanked the gathering for their encouragement in organising an event of this scale.
Secretary Arun Mandal, Joint Secretary Dr Bhargavi Hemmige and Shubha Venkatesh, executive members Dr Girish, Bharat Raje Urs, Dr Kiran, Jayanth, K T Povanna and patron members K Rakesh Raje Urs, Raghuvendra, Vaishali Hanumanth, Uma Vivek, Tanuja Rao and Pushpa Guru were present on the occasion.
