“Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike and Progressive associations of
Mysuru are organizing a mega convention to remember erstwhile king of
Mysuru, Tipu Sultan on May 4,” said chief secretary of the Vedike, K L
Ashok here on Tuesday.
“It has been 218 years since his demise. He is the first person from
the state to sacrifice his life for the freedom of the nation. Senior
freedom fighter H S Doreswamy will symbolically inaugurate the program
where Tipu breathed his last. K S Puttannaiah, Guruprasad Keregodu,
Radha Sundaresh of Indian Communist party and Dr Sujay will take part
in the program. Former minister B T Lalita Nayak will inaugurate the
rally by garlanding the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar. Thinker A K
Subbaiah will preside over the public convention at Dasara exhibition
grounds at 10:30 am. Writers Devanur Mahadeva, Bettaiah kote,
Kalegowda Nagawara, Gowri Lankesh, Dr Banjagere Jayaprakash, Mallesh,
Shivanubhava Charamurthy Shivarudra seer of Beli mutt will be
present,” he added.
