Member of dreaded Veerappan gang died in Hospital due to illness

Prime News, State, (Bengaluru), April 16:-Life term convict and member of notorious Veerappan gang, who was one of those responsible for killing 22 Karnataka policemen belonging to Special Task Force (STF) in 1993, died in a government hospital here due to illness.

Simon was among the prominent member of the dread sandalwood smugglers gang led by late Veerappan which ambushed the police party in Palar forests using land mines and indiscriminate firing.

The dead police included then STF Chief and IPS official Gopalakrishna.

He was admitted to Victoria hospital here last month due to illness and he died on Sunday, police officials said. The dread sandalwood smuggler was serving life term and was in jail for the last 23 years in various Prisons in Karnataka.
