MHRD to take the final call on Kannada centre

Central Institute of Indian languages (CIIL) on Tuesday decided to write to Ministry of Human Resource Development to take a decision on the shifting of classical Kannada centre.

In a major meeting held at CIIL in the city on Tuesday, the CIIL discussed about relocating the centre to Bengaluru but finally decided to write a letter to the MHRD officials in New Delhi to take a final call on shifting the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada from Mysuru to Bengaluru. On Sunday, various Kannada activists and theatre personalities met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and urged him not to shift the centre from Mysuru and opposed the move of CIIL.
