Minister ST Somashekar distributes eggs to MCC pourakarmikas

Mysuru, April 15:- Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has decided to distribute eggs to pourakarmikas as they are not getting proper nutritious food amid the nationwide lockdown to contain spread of coronavirus pandemic. The MCC has taken up the initiative at a cost of Rs 10 lakh for the next 10-15 days.

District in-charge Minister ST Somashekhar inaugurated the initiative symbolically.

“The pourakarmikas work for days together without bothering about their health. Consuming eggs makes them more immune and healthy,” he said.

The initiative has been taken up in association with the National Egg Coordination Committee of Mysuru.

MLAs L Nagendra, S A Ramadass, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, MCC Commissioner Gurudutta Hegde, MP Satish Prabhu and others were present.

Prior to this, the minister visited the food preparation unit of HV Rajiv Balaga near Shankara Narayana Temple at Chamundipuram in the city where food is being prepared for thousands of people every day. (MR/KS)
