Minister Tanveer Sait gets death threat calls from gangster

Security beefed up at Sait's residence in Mysuru and Bengaluru

Mysuru, January 10:-In a shocking incident, the Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait allegedly received threat calls from underworld don Ravi Poojari, demanding a ransom of Rs 10 crore or face the music.

The Congress MLA from NR Constituency Tanveer Sait has complained that Ravi Poojari, a gangster, has been threatening him for the past four days and is demanding Rs 10 crore or he will be killed. Following the threat call, Sait has written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy and Director General of Police about the threat.

The minister clarified that he had received four SMSes and a call from Ravi Poojari, threatening to kill him if he did not pay the ransom. However, Sait said that he won’t care for such threat calls.

The top cops from the state have taken up the issue seriously and are verifying to trace the location from where the person made the call and that an inquiry is underway.

A complaint was filed by the minister Sait’s personal assistant with DG and IGP Neelamani N Raju and in the complaint, he has stated that the minister is getting calls and messages from international numbers and also internet calls.

The cops have beefed up security at his residence in Mysuru and Bengaluru. -(KS, MR, KK)
