Mysuru, September 22:- Minister for Kannada and Culture Umashree inaugurated Dasara Book Fair at CADA office premises in the city on Thursday evening.
She visited all the book stalls and browsed through the books. She purchased a book, ‘Vijnanada Heddariyalli Tiruvugalu’ by science writer T R Anantharamu by paying Rs 800.
“Kannada and Culture Department has developed Kanaja for readers. It is a source of abundant information. It is also available in the form of mobile app,” she said.
The minister later released Kathana Rajakarana and Nati Ota – Kodagina Kathegalu by Dr Kavitha Rai.
Dr Vasundhara Bhupathi explained that the poets’ meet, seminar and quiz programmes were being conducted for the first time at the book fair this year.
51 book stalls have been set up at the book fair out of which seven were government stalls.
The book fair will be held from 10:30 am to 8 pm.
Director of Kannada and Culture Department N R Vishu Kumar, Dr Vasundhara Bhupathi and Dr Kavitha Rai were present.
