The Devaraja traffic police on Saturday released a two-wheeler which had been seized for violating traffic norms 64 times following a payment of Rs 9,100 as fine by the vehicle’s owner.
The vehicle was seized by the police when four girls, all minors, were riding on it near Dasappa Circle, three days ago.
According to Inspector Sandesh Kumar, the vehicle was released after collecting the fine from Gayathri, a resident of K R Mohalla, document owner of the vehicle. The police also booked the vehicle owner for allowing unauthorised riders.
Inspector Kumar said the minor girl, who used to ride the scooter, had removed its number plate as the CCTV cameras installed at parts of the city record the violations automatically. Police suspect that there may be more violations, but did not record as the number plate has been removed.
