MK Somashekar pays tributes to Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar

Mysuru, June 4:- Former MLA of Krishnaraja Constituency M K Somashekar garlanded the statue of Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar at KR Circle here on the occasion of his 136th birth anniversary.

“Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar’s governance is a role model for the whole world. He ended Gejjepuje, Devadasi and other anti social practices. He gave importance to women’s education and started the reputed Maharani College for Women. He is the reason behind University of Mysore being placed among the top universities of India. He formed a committee in 1918 to introduce reservation system for backward communities. Buildings and constructions of his time are still strong and the city will remain clean and beautiful if his governance is followed. He played a key role in the construction of KRS Reservoir and gave importance to irrigation. He started sandalwood oil and other factories in Mysuru,” he said.
