Mysuru, May 20:- Former MLA of Krishnaraja Constituency M K Somashekar organised an event to felicitate corona warriors of the city at Chikkamaniketana Kalyana Mantapa here on Tuesday.
District Health Officer Dr R Venkatesh, Dr Nagaraj, pourakarmikas, nurses, ASHA workers, Prasad, Bhashyam, Somashekar, Madegowda, Dinakar, Manjunath, Vasanth Kumar and others were felicitated.
“People had a tough time during the lockdown period but public representatives and organisations have helped the people in need. Somashekar also distributed ration kits to needy people for 56 days. Seer Sr Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji also extended total support for this purpose and sent ration kits. The seer has provided ration kits worth Rs 70 lakh. Somashekar ensured that all these ration kits reached the needy,” said seer Datta Vijayananda Swamiji of Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashram.
He advised people to be more careful as one more patient tested positive for coronavirus in Mysuru district.
“Somashekar should be appreciated for the concern he has shown towards the needy people. Though he is not an MLA at present, he has helped people,” said former Member of Parliament from Chamarajanagar R Dhruvanarayan.
“Poor people could survive due to the farsightedness of the then Congress government led by Dr Manmohan Singh. His government ensured that poor people got wheat, rice and other grains at a lower price. Siddaramaiah started Anna Bhagya scheme to help needy poor when he was the chief minister,” he added.
Somashekar thanked all the coronavirus warriors.
