Lockdown: MK Somashekar helps stranded labourers

Mysuru, May 7:- Several labourers from Tamil Nadu were working in coffee plantations in Hassan. They had no income since a month due to lockdown and had no money to get back to their native places. They decided to go to their native place by walk and reached Mysuru by walking. They stayed at a park near the Deputy Commissioner’s office here in the city. Knowing their plight, former Congress MLA of Krishnaraja Constituency M K Somashekar immediately visited the park and provided the labourers with food, water, sanitisers, face masks and Rs 10,000 in cash.

He also provided Rs 3,000 to labourers from Bihar.

Somashekar called Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) B R Poornima and requested her to solve the problems of stranded labourers. He requested her to get the labourers tested for medical issues. (MR/KS)
