Mysuru, July 21:- Chamaraja Constituency MLA L Nagendra along with Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials and workers took part in a cleanliness drive held at the campus of Maharani’s Arts and Science College for Women in the city on Saturday.
Following complaints of unhygienic conditions and inadequate facilities for the students studying at Maharani’s College on JLB Road in the city, Nagendra along with MCC Commissioner K H Jagadeesh, Health officer Dr Nagaraj, Yadav and others took part in the cleanliness drive and cleaned the Maharani’s College premises.
Speaking to media persons, Nagendra said “A lot of complaints were received from the girl students that the college premises was unclean and no seating facilities were provided to them at the campus. So we decided to take up the cleaning activity which will motivate the students to keep their campus clean and hygienic.”
“During a recent meeting with the students and staffs, Higher Education Minister G T Devegowda assured to release funds for the development of the college. I assure to take up the welfare works and complete it within a month’s time,” he added.
E-TOILETS TO BE SET UP NEAR COLLEGE CAMPUS
“Students had complained that there is shortage of toilet rooms in the college. So the MCC has decided to set up E-toilets near the college which will serve the purpose,” said Nagendra.
“We are also taking up steps to install benches around the college campus and will be installed soon,” he added. -(HN,KK)
