Mysuru, September 12:- Chamaraja Constituency MLA L Nagendra celebrated his birthday in a unique way on Wednesday.
Many supporters and well-wishers visited the MLA’s office to wish him on his birthday. Those who came on their two-wheelers without wearing helmet were given free helmets with ISI mark on behalf of Belaku organisation in collaboration with Mysuru Traffic Police. More than 50 helmets were distributed on the occasion and awareness was created to follow traffic rules.
The awareness programme was initiated by Nagendra and founder of Belaku organisation and BJP youth wing secretary K M Nishanth.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that riders are violating traffic rules though excess fines are levied on the violation. This has become a big headache for Traffic Police and RTO. Educated class and youth are the first in violating traffic rules. Many lives can be saved by revising the fine amounts for violating traffic rules. Awareness must be created among the public on revised fine amounts. He applauded the Belaku for providing free helmets to the vehicle users on his birthday. He requested the public to co-operate with the traffic police.
“Opposition parties and a few organisations are creating unnecessary fear among the public regarding the revised fine amounts on traffic rule violation. The traffic rules violators must pay the hefty fine but it is not a burden on the public who follow traffic rules,” said KM Nishanth. He requested the public to wear helmets, not to drink and drive, to renew vehicle insurance in time, not to over speed and also requested parents not to give vehicles to their minor children.
