Mysuru, November 19:- MLA S A Ramadass continued his Swachh Bharat campaign in Krishnaraja Constituency like he does every Sunday. He led the campaign at Mysuru City Corpoation (MCC) Ward 53, Siddartha Layout.
“We are organising this campaign with a tagline ‘Clean Sunday – Green Sunday.’ We are working together with pourakarmikas, residents and other like-minded organisations. We don’t have former Union minister H N Ananth Kumar with us today. But he started Green Sunday campaign for the first time in Karnataka and held the initiative for 157 weeks. He had the aim of planting one crore saplings. Though it has not been even a week since his demise, his organisation, Adamya Chethana held the Green Sunday event. We have discussed with concerned departments of the University of Mysore. We will plant saplings wherever we get permission from the electricity board. The decision of planting saplings will be taken within one month. If we have to protect our city’s greenery, we should make it clean first,” he said.
He instructed the zonal commissioner of MCC to complete the women’s training centre building soon.
Corporator Roopa G, zoanl commissioner of MCC Muralidhar, health inspector Ravishankar, Shivaswamy of Horticulture Department, Babu, Prashant of Safe Wheels and others were present. (MR/SH)
