Mysuru, September 29:- There is widespread criticism over the sudden transfer of Deputy Commissioner B Sharath. In a sudden turn of events, Sharath, who had taken charge only last month, was given the transfer orders, and Rohini Sindhuri was asked to take over immediately.
Janata Dal (Secular) MLA and former minister Sa Ra Mahesh, who does not think twice when it comes to criticising the state BJP government, has expressed anguish over the move.
Talking to reporters here on Tuesday (September 29), he said, “Just for the sake of an IAS officer from Andhra, the DC, who happens to be a Dalit-Kannadiga, has been transferred. This is the greatest achievement of the state government. Hardly a week back, high power committee meeting of Dasara was held. B Sharath who took charge only last month has been replaced without any valid reasons. The B S Yediyurappa government is making a mockery of itself.”
Mahesh continued, “Whenever a DC is transferred, a lot of problems crop up. In the last 29 days, not even a single bill has been passed. The DC signs the bills after proper scrutiny. Transferring him all of a sudden will only complicate the issues. It will also affect developmental works in the city. Rohini Sindhuri (who took charge as DC today) wanted to be posted to Mysuru. How can we expect good administration from such an IAS officer.”
Continuing his tirade against the state government and Rohini Sindhuri, Mahesh added, “She was the Hassan DC when Rs 175-crore ‘Maha Mastakabhisheka’ was held. She refused to vacate her official bungalow when IAS officer Akram Pasha was transferred to Hassan. What has been done to Sharath is an insult to all the Kannadigas and IAS community. There is a strong rumour that Yediyurappa acted at the behest of the chief minister of another state. If this was the plan, why was Sharath posted to Mysuru as DC? Just imagine the trauma he must be going through. How many can do IAS in Kannada? Is Andhra Chief Minister running the government in Karnataka? Yediyurappa is busy making a business out of transfers and Rohini’s transfer must be one such move.” (MR/KS)
