The fourth edition of the model United Nations conference was held at the JSS Law College in the city on Saturday.
The Model United Nations conference was held to enable students to express their views relating to the International problems. It was inaugurated at the JSS Law College premises by Additional Director of College Education.
JSS’ Mahavidyapeetha’s Dr Mruthyunjaya P Kulenur in his inaugural address said, , “The main objective of the United Nation Organisation is to solve the issues and problems of all the countries. The model UN conference will provide students to participate as representatives of various countries and gather suggestions regarding the topic concerning their countries. The resolution and suggestions made here can also be sent to the policy makers.”
Delivering the presidential address, Principal Prof K S Suresh said, “The model UN conference held will discuss the agenda on prevention of child labour, sexual harassment and protection of migrant workers and third genders. India constitutes 20% of the global child labour victims and this has been a burning issue in various other countries too. Even the sexual harassment of working women is around 80% which is high in India.”
“This model UN conference will provide a platform to discuss various burning issues across all countries and enables them express their views,” he added.
