Modi critic Dhiru Gajera set to return to BJP ahead of Gujarat assembly polls

Prime News, National (Ahmedabad), July 24:- Former Gujarat MLA Dhiru Gajera, who had jumped ship from the BJP to the Congress 14 years ago, will rejoin the saffron party in the presence of state unit chief CR Patil on July 24 at the party’s Surat headquarters.

A three-term BJP MLA, Gajera had contested Gujarat assembly polls from Surat but had lost to a candidate from the saffron party. He now admits that he, as well as the other Gujarat BJP members who had rebelled, had been unsuccessful at the hustings after they switched allegiance to the Congress.

A Surat-based businessman from the Patidar community, with origins in Saurashtra, Dhiru Gajera contested assembly elections on a Congress ticket on four separate occasions but failed to win even once. He was vice president of the Gujarat Congress when he left the party a few years ago.

The ex-MLA is now returning to the BJP fold, as the party looks to strengthen its Patidar voter base ahead of the Gujarat assembly polls in 2022. (MR, Inputs: Agencies).
